So I went on a road trip this weekend to watch my daughter’s team perform in a competition. They WON!!! yaaay! I’m so excited for them! Wish me luck for the next level. Because it will be a 4 day trip. I’m not sure how I’m going to handle that with my other kids! They drove me nuts for this 2 day trip!! :P

soooo why do you have this rode trip? what’s the competition? how old is your competing daughter? how come it takes so long?

Kon, when you become a parent, you will understand. At your age, I wondered the same thing, until I started competing in Public speaking contests that were held all over the US, and I wanted the support of my family.

Oh my kids are signed up for so much stuff! LOL
Last weekend was for Destination Imagination. That is an after school program to teach kids problem solving. They are given a specific scenario to solve. Their team has to write their own play about this scenario and decide how it ends up themselves. They also have to make all their own props and costumes. It is so amazing to see what they are capable of and the ideas they have! Then each team competes against the other teams in their age group to see who was the most creative and original, etc. They have specific guidelines they have to meet for their little play for the competition. My daughter’s team has won at every level and is now moving on to Global Finals!

Last weekend was so crazy for me because my husband was out of town for work so I had my friend go with me to help out with my other kids. But, it was still very overwhelming for me and them with dad gone and being away from home at the same time. I still managed so squeeze in a little fun and my daughter that was competing had a wonderful time! :) My other kids did have fun as well. But when it was time to go, we were more than ready to leave and come back home!

Well, Kon, that’s the best way to learn. Beats the heck out of learning by making the wrong choices. I can testify to that in my 63 years of making choices. hehe

To me, fun is what and how you make it. There is little that I don’t find some enjoyment and even fun in. Those trips to various campuses across the US are memories I will treasure. It also helped that the College picked up the gas, accommodations and meal tabs for us. But the competitions, the friends we made, the sites we saw can never be taken away from us.
