I created a layout for my ‘myspace music’ website for my band. Not the regular myspace site and it does not seem to work. The layout is a bit different. Any suggestions on a layout from coolchaser for myspace music?
I can paste the code I created in the ‘about me’ section, but there is no icon to ‘save’ the profile. If I can’t create one for myspace music, I might delete my account with myspace and change it to a regular account.

Thought?

Hi Paul, our layout editor should work on band profiles now. But if you wanna do it manually here is how:

1) For band layout, you need to paste the code using the “safe mode”. This link should work (after you log in MySpace)

http://editprofile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=profile.safemode&MyToken=870259cd-19e2-45c6-bde5-893e7fcd7440

If this link doesn’t work, click on “safe mode” on your MySpace homepage right underneath your name.

2) You should see a box called “bio”. Click edit underneath the box.

3) Paste the code in there (or erase if you want to delete the layout)

4) Click “preview”

5) Click “submit”

Hope this helps!

Ok, I logged into myspace under the profile for the site I want to change. Then I clicked on the link you provided. I noticed the ‘bio’ section was already populated with code. I did not see a ‘preview’ button but a ‘view my profile’ button. So I chose to click on that. Also, I did not se a ‘submit’ button. Also, when I view my page while I am logged in, I did click on ‘safe mode’ button underneath my name, it brought me to the ‘Edit band Interest’ page.

Now that the code is in the ‘bio’ profile, what are the next steps to put in a coolchaser layout I have created? Since I have made the recommended changes I do not see a layout.

Thanks
Paul

Also wanted to add that I do not see a ‘bio’ section in my website when I go to ‘edit profile’ page. I only see an ‘about me’ and other fields. The only way I can see a ‘bio’ section in my website is if I click on the link you provided when I am logged into my profile.

Please disregard the previous comment. I do see the ‘bio’ section when I go to ‘safe mode’. I still need some direction on how to insert a layout. Now that the code is in the ‘bio’ section, do I continue to build a coolchaser layout (via the coolchaser website) and paste the code in the ‘about me’ section?

Ok, I figured out how to insert the coolchaser layout I created. Howerver the layout is a bit different when it is inserted to a myspace music website vs a regular myspace website. Do you have layouts specific for myspace music?

One more thing. When add text to the ‘about me’ section the text does not appear when I go to my page. Maybe the font is the same color as the background, black. How do I change that?

Hey Paul, sorry for not checking in over the weekend :P So, yeah, band layout is a bit different from regular profiles, so here are some things that you can do: (from tour help page)

==========================

There are couple of reasons band layouts might look weird.

1. Banner overlapping the menu on top Put this code AFTER the CoolChaser code in the "Bio" section.
<style> body table { margin-top:298px; } .cc_banner { top:217px;} </style>
2. There's no padding in the Bio box. Put this code AFTER the CoolChaser code in the "Bio" section.
<style> table table td.text table { border-collapse: separate;} </style>

=========================

Also to add regular text in the Bio section, just make sure to type it ALL THE WAY AT THE TOP of any other code in there. Yeah there are bunch of code in there but make sure it’s not messing that part out and lives nicely outside.

Hope this helps!
