profile is messed up

hey my background shows up and i love the bg but the stuff i have on my profile is cut off, im not sure how to fix it, i deleted your old layout-the whole thing, but i notice theres still part of my previous profile still showing, i have no problem with that i think it goes with my new layout, but i believe thats whats messing the profile up, so i deleted the new profile also, but 4 future reference how would that b fixed?

Can you post the link to your profile so we can see what is causing the problem? It’s impossible to say for sure without actually seeing it. If it’s private you can add me on myspace so I can take a look:

You still have the Myspace Profile Editor stylesheet on your profile. Make very sure that you hit “clear all” then wait for the page to re-load, then hit “save”. When it’s done you should be looking at your profile. If that does not take the stylesheet off, then you will need to sign out of Myspace.com. Clear your cache. Sign back in to Myspace.com and clear all again. Myspace has a cache problem that makes the editor not work sometimes.

If that STILL won’t take the stylesheet off your profile you need to contact Myspace and tell them their editor sux! —I mean— Tell them you followed all the steps to clear all styles but their style sheet is still on your profile.

ok im just computer illiterate but where i can delete the cookies, history,etc i see no place to delete the cache :S

In the very top menu click “tools”

click “internet options”

Under “browsing history” click ‘delete’

delete cookies, and temp files.

I think that should do it!!

If so, that is because you have friends and comments hidden, so that is where everything ends. If you don’t want them hidden anymore, you need to take this out of your code:
<style>.friendSpace, .friendsComments {display:none;)</style>

It’s just before the Coolchaser code in your About Me.

ALSO- The Myspace Profile Editor is still on your profile. You will need to contact myspace.com/myspacehelp and tell them you followed the steps to “clear all” but their style sheet is still there.

thank you. thats not what i mean by the profile being messed up. i know about the comments and friends list being hidden and that’s why it stops there, but i have banners on my page in the who i’d like to meet section and interests section, i believe, and i only see one or two of them. i can scroll down and sometimes a banner will flash on the screen back and forth, but can hiding my comments and friends cause that to happen?

oh ok. So here’s the deal with the banners….

You have a whole lot of them so it takes a really long time for the page to load. Sometimes it doesn’t load completely so you won’t see the ones that never loaded. Internet Explorer has a very hard time displaying lots of html files on partial see through tables too and will sometimes cut the whole table off. (like it might cut off the entire “Who I’d Like to Meet”)

You have lots of really cool banners and I’m sure they are there for people to use on their pages. But, I would suggest displaying maybe 5 or 6 at the most. And putting the rest in blogs and having a link that says find more banners in my blog. Or something like that. Change the banners out that you put on your page regularly and it will help your page load faster and all your banners will show up. Plus, if you are changing them around it will be more interesting to come by your page and see what’s new.

Also note that even though comments are hidden, myspace still loads them. If people have left your picture comments they will also take up time to load. You won’t be able to see them, but the large files are still there slowing your page down.

Another possiblity that is slowing down your page are the scroll box codes. You have several of them. But, the codes all have the exact same “class name”. So all your scrollboxes will look just like the very last one you put on your page (unless you already made them all the exact same..). The background image code for those boxes isn’t working because there is [img]...[/img] around the background URL. I don’t know how much you know about editing your html codes, but you will need to delete those two img tags from the background code for it to work. Having “bad codes” on your profile can slow things down a lot since it will confuse your internet browser and make it work harder to try to display what those codes do.

I hope this explains it a little better for you! Good luck getting myspace to fix their editor. their editor doesn’t always work, I wouldn’t use it anymore if I were you!

As for the Myspace Profile Editor…maybe you used it a really long time ago and forgot or something? Their stylesheet is def still on there. I just checked again to day for you.

That get started button always shows up. I’ve used it to test out how it works quite a bit, and the start button is always there. Myspace is just weird. :( It’s so weird…that the link didn’t work!! You still have the Myspace Profile Editor’s style sheet on your profile!

You should try clearing all your cache in IE and then sign in Myspace and try to clear it manually. You can still follow that link I posted above to clear all. It has a link you can click that has step by step instructions and a video to show you how to clear all manually.

If nothing you do works, you will need to report that to myspace.com/myspacehelp. There is a link in that profile to report a site error. Tell them you followed all the steps to “clear all” in the profile editor and it’s not working.

I’m sorry rkrchk. But, until you can get myspace’s editor to clear all styles for you that style sheet will be on your profile. Myspace has it set so their style sheet overrides any layout codes you put in your profile. So that causes a lot of problems. Keep trying to go in there and clear all. Maybe it will work if you try using a different computer.

I’ve heard lots of problems using their editor. It only works in Internet Explorer. Sometimes you have to clear your cache or it won’t work. Sometimes a firewall setting will prevent it from working too. Try using someone else’s computer and see what happens.

There’s really nothing we can do about it since that is Myspace’s editor. Only Myspace can fix it if there is a problem with it. Sorry!!
