Post your suggestions for new features or ways you think the site could be better.

Hey, I’m pretty new here and to all this, “stuff” so , please don’t berate me if I’m being stupid. I put together a layout and it’s not working for me. I picked it up from the save area and I just wanted to take out the background photo and put in another background. I don’t see a way of doing that. Is there a way to edit what you’ve saved? If so, please let me know, if not, I think it would be great.

Yes you can edit your saved layout by clicking the “edit” link… it should have a thumbnail of the background you used, and some links such as “use | edit | homepage | trash” on your user CoolChaser user homepage.

Instead of scrolling through screen after screen of 9 layout styles each, could there be added a way to search for styles in some way. Perhaps somewhat akin to the way we can search for a background image?

Yeah, I know, that’s on our todo list but we have not been able to get to it because of so many other things to work on (like fixing bugs) :( I have to go through pages and pages of themes too to find what theme to feature on the blog! I’m not sure when exactly we are going to have the search but it is on our future feature list :)

It would be great if CoolChaser had a section of layouts and themes dealing with each holiday. Halloween is my 2nd favorite holiday of the year, and I have made some Classic Horror movie themes and layouts. It would be so nice to see what others have done for the holidays, as well.

yes catagories! We do need catagories.

Yeah, this could be solved once we have the search feature… so if user type “Halloween” or “Christmas” those themes come up.. In the meantime, I’m going to start a thread and post any Halloween theme I see :)

When you get a list of themes and layouts for a specific holiday, such as you now have in the forum for halloween layouts and themes, why not let people know about it on the Coolchaser Home page? Then, a lot of people might come to the forum for that reason, and find, as I did, when I came looking for help, all that is available here? I think there are probably a lot of people looking for ideas for themes and layouts, if not for layouts and themes themselves. Oh, and your pick of Chamorita was right on. A very talented young lady. Wish I had half the eye and talent for this that she does. Oh, well, practice makes perfect. But WHERE does she get some of her GREAT graphics like the animated candles in her Halloween theme?????

I know~ it’s so hard to feature themes and layouts but I will try to update on the blog and so people follow the link from the blog to this forum. Yeah isn’t Chamorita great??? She is sooo creative. I am not sure where she find all of those great graphics either! I’ll ask her if she can reply to this forum :P

New suggestion:

We have credits for theme creators and for the background in search results….but how about a credit for the people that upload their own backgrounds? I’m not sure how to properly credit them though. Maybe in the add your own tab have a text box to type in your own text giving yourself credit. Is that even possible????

Hmm, hadn’t thought of that – and I kinda like the idea, it’s fresh!
It’ll be easy to say something standard like “I uploaded the pict myself”, but some custom text box would be even nicer – what do you think, Sachiko?

I have an idea. You know the MySpace preview part? Why don’t we add a (add credits) link next to that credit part and then an input box appears (sort of like an inline editing thing- free form) so they can add whatever text they want to add. What you think? So it will be something like [C logo] Theme by Heathaaa! [Free form editing box] The problem could be that when someone uploads something that is somebody elses’s and then they say “background by me” :(

That is the downside to letting people enter their own text. But, it was the best way I could think of to credit people that upload their own photos. It gives the artist control over how they are credited since they can enter their website or business name, etc.

Hi guys, keep up the good work! I have another thought. When creating a new theme, and loading a template, all you can do is click “more >>” eternally until you find what you want. I would like one of those mini-tabs to look at just my themes, so I could reuse my own templates.

With the recent focus on layouts and themes, I noticed something else I would like to see. Since the earlier layouts are only available from the profile page, I would like to see a use button on the layouts in the profile page, or a complete set of buttons (ie: trash, edit etc) that only the user would be able to use.

One other suggestion, if possible, could the posts be with the most recent posts first, instead of last. In long topic areas, it would save a couple of keystrokes.

I feel bad adding another new suggestion to the list…since there is so many requests already…but I’m going to anyway!! LOL

I want background image repeat options.
repeat, no-repeat, repeat-y, repeat-x

right now when you get an image it automatically repeats it vertically. but, it doesn’t repeat in the previewer:

We are planning to have it on the staging site soon so people can test it out :) Oh, one thing though, you can’t preview the background repeat because we are using a hack… the hack is company secret :D Just joking …
